PROFESSIONAL TEETH WHITENING

7-8 shades whiter teeth in 1 hour? It is possible!

We look forward to welcoming you in our dental and oral surgical clinic, where during treatment:

  • Neither the gums nor the teeth are damaged
  • The treatment takes place under continuous control

The color of our teeth is determined by the pigments located in the enamel and the underlying tooth material. Materials used during teeth whitening procedures discolor these dyes by oxidation. Tooth color is influenced by many factors, such as:

  • the thickness of tooth enamel
  • smoking
  • consumption of colored drinks (coffee, tea, cola, red wine, etc.)
  • eating colorful foods (e.g. beets, curry, turmeric, tomatoes, etc.)
  • plaque on the teeth, calculus

HOW IS TEETH WHITENING DONE?

Professional teeth whitening in the office provides immediate, spectacular results (up to 7-8 shades whiter teeth) in just 1 hour, and is also safe, as it is performed under constant medical supervision. Before applying the whitening agent, we apply a special, light-binding gingival protective material that protects the gums from damage. After that, the active ingredient is applied to the teeth one by one, which is illuminated with a special blue-light, ultrasonic lamp for 20 minutes, and then washed off. This operation is repeated one more time. As the last step of the treatment, a protective varnish is placed on the teeth, which prevents possible tooth sensitivity.

WHAT TO DO AFTER TEETH WHITENING?

In order to preserve the achieved result, colorful foods and drinks should be avoided in the week after the procedure. It is recommended to use the sensitivity-reducing toothpaste recommended by the doctor for a few weeks.

ARE THERE ANY RISKS OF IN OFFICE TEETH WHITENING?

Clinical teeth whitening is always performed by a specialist, so it is completely safe, neither the gums nor the teeth are damaged. Cold sensitivity may occur during whitening and the day after. The reason for this is that the bleaching agent draws water away from the tooth, which quickly recovers, so the sensitivity can only be temporarily avoided by using special toothpastes.

CAN MY TEETH BE WHITEN IN ALL CASES?

Teeth whitening, like any other dental procedure, has exclusion factors, these are as followsk:

  • untreated gingivitis
  • decayed, inflamed teeth
  • pregnancy, breastfeeding
  • dental malformations, enamel defects
  • poorly closing seals

Furthermore, it is worth knowing that bleaching unfortunately has no effect on the color of restorations and fillings. If there are fillings in the front teeth, this is not a disqualifying factor in itself, but after teeth whitening it is worth replacing these fillings with a lighter color.

I HAVE A ROOT CANAL TREATED TOOTH THAT HAS CHANGED COLOR TO GREY. IS TEETH WHITENING EFFECTIVE FOR THIS TOO?

If your root-treated tooth is discolored, you need the so-called internal teeth whitening. During the procedure, the whitening material is placed inside the tooth, which is sealed with a temporary filling. After a few days, the process is repeated until the desired whiteness is reached.
